Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

KIND OF ARTICLE.

Bonafide publishes research articles or original articles in Christian theology and education with a focus and scope on biblical studies, Christian education, contextual theology, Christian leadership, church services, practical theology, systematic theology, and sociology religion. Also, in each issue, we include the latest book review articles published in the last three years.

STYLE ARTICLE WRITING

Paper Format and Number of Pages. The paper is written in 1 column format on A4 paper with Times New Roman 12 pt, space 2. The left margin is 4 cm, right is 3 cm, the top is 4 cm, and the bottom is 3 cm. The first sentence protrudes to 1.27cm. The number of pages ± 20 pages.

Title. The title is written in Indonesian briefly, at most 40 characters, using Times New Roman 14 pt, bold, one spacing, margins center, capitalization, and less than 14 words.

Name and Affiliation of Author. The author's name is written without titles, using Times New Roman 12 pt, bold, in the center margin. The affiliated institution of the author in the second line, used Times New Roman 10 pt, center margin. If the writer is more than one, the writing is the same as the first author. The third line is the email address of the corresponding author.

Abstract. Write the abstract in two languages, English and Indonesian, with Arial 10 pt, one space. Abstract length is 200 words maximum. It contains research objectives, methods, and results. Abstract in English written italic.

Keywords. Write keywords with Roman 10 pt below the abstract text. Maximum 5 keywords and reflect the contents of the article. The words "keywords" are written boldly.

Introduction. Write after the keywords in Indonesian. It should contain the background of the problems, which is supported by concept, theory, and research results from sources that are relevant and up to date. Objectives of the research state clearly at the end.

Method. Explain the methods used in answering research objectives such as qualitative methods, quantitative methods, or hermeneutics methods (especially for biblical studies). The explanation includes data collection techniques, data analysis techniques, as well as the stages in the research conducted.

Result. State the answers to the research problems clearly, wholly, and precisely by using pictures/graphs/tables/descriptions in actual terms with no citation.

Discussion. It contains an in-depth explanation about the research results related to the relevant concept or theory, interpretation of the findings, and their implications for the development of Christian theology and education. 

Conclusion. It contains the answers to the problems of research in brief as a contribution to the development of science.

References.

  • Refers more to primary resources, namely articles in scientific journals, proceedings, dissertations, theses, monographs, books, and others, which are the result of direct research. Of all these references, the portion of references in scientific journals is 80%.
  • The reference should publish in the last 10 (ten) years with a minimum of 15 (fifteen) referral sources.
  • The citation of the references uses the author-date style. Sources are cited in the text by the author's last name and year of publication. Full bibliographic information of the citation is provided in the reference list.
  • Citation and reference use the Turabian Style in Mendeley Reference.

ONLINE SUBMISSION GUIDE

Bonafide is a fully online journal. The entire article publishing process is done online through the open journal system (OJS). 

  • Make sure the article you want to submit is following Bonafide's article standards. Read the Author Guidelines carefully.
  • Download the ARTICLE TEMPLATE and adjust it by writing the article in the template. DO NOT SEND / SUBMIT SUBSCRIPTION THAT DOESN'T COMPLY WITH TEMPLATE.
  • Submit your articles through the open journal system. Are you already registered as a user at Bonafide? Please LOGIN. If not, please REGISTER
  • If it has successfully submitted, your article will be processed immediately by the Editor. Please follow the editorial process through OJS. 
  • If you want to convey or ask something to the Editor about your submission, please use the "discussion" menu in OJS.

ARTICLE REVIEW PROCESS

  • A manuscript will be checked first by the editorial to ensure its appropriateness to the Author Guidelines in general. If it does not meet the standards of the Bonafide article, it will be returned to the author to revise it.
  • The writer who sent the revised article at this early stage submitted it to the "Pre-Review Discussion" menu at OJS, NOT MAKING A NEW SUBMISSION.
  • If the paper meets the Author Guidelines, then it will be sent to be reviewed by the Peer Reviewer for review with a double-blinded system. The author does not know who reviewed her/his article, and the reviewer does not know who the author of the paper she/he studied. A minimum of two reviewers will review one manuscript.
  • Then, the Editor will follow up on the results of the review and recommendations. The final decision is in the hands of the Editor, whether an article is feasible or not to be published.

SCREENING FOR PLAGIARISM

Bonafide is committed to participating in overcoming plagiarism. Each article will be checked by the Editor using a premium application, Turnitin, to check the level of similarity with other writings with a tolerance of 25% similarity. Articles with similarities of up to 40% will be returned to the authors for revision, while articles with similarities above 40% are automatically rejected.

  • Bonafide has a non-exclusive right to publish the author's article and is recognized as the first publisher of the article.
  • Bonafide publishes articles under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0) international license. Anyone is free to read, download, copy, print, distribute articles, and other ways that are not contrary to law, by giving appropriate credit to the author and Bonafide as the publisher.
