THE CHURCH PASTOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES ACCORDING TO II TIMOTHY 4:1-8
Abstract
This article describes the responsibility of the pastor of the church based on the Biblical perspective of the text of II Timothy 4:1-8. In general, the pastor's responsibility is to take care of God's church spiritually with the aim that the congregation experiences good faith growth in Christ. But specifically in this text, the apostle Paul gives a systematic and detailed portrait of the responsibility of the shepherd to Timothy, remembering that before the Triune God who will judge this message is delivered with authority so that Timothy should be ready to preach the Good News (Gospel) even in situations and conditions. If that is not good, Timothy should dare to rebuke and state his faults with full teaching, have self-control, be patient with suffering and carry out these ministry duties with full responsibility. This article aims to contribute ideas about the meaning of the responsibility of the pastor of the church in a Biblical perspective based on the text of II Timothy 4:1-8 which can then have implications for pastors of the church today to be able to apply and realize these responsibilities in ministry. The method used in this study is a qualitative method using an exegetical approach, namely an analysis of the Historical Grammatical. The meaning of the responsibility of the pastor of the church in the text of II Timothy 4:1-8 is to be ready to preach the Good News (Gospel) even in bad situations and conditions, dare to rebuke and state mistakes with full teaching, have self-control, be patient to suffer. And carry out these service duties with full responsibility.
